About LG2 files
The .LG2 file is a multi-purpose extension primarily utilized as a track layout file for the racing simulator Live for Speed (LFS), or as a proprietary vector graphic for industrial Trotec Laser engraving machines. It is also found as a Calcomp plotter vector graphics file, a compressed log file managed by LG2 Viewer, and a Microsoft Message Queuing Message State File. These files are highly proprietary and tightly locked to their respective ecosystems. For example, a Trotec laser file cannot be opened natively by standard graphic software like Adobe Illustrator, and LFS track layouts require the specific game engine to render. Users frequently face limitations when trying to share, edit, or archive these files, as they require expensive hardware subscriptions or obsolete software. Ideally, vector-based .LG2 files should be converted to standard formats like SVG, DXF, or PDF to ensure long-term accessibility, while game data might be extracted to OBJ.
