About LDD files

The .LDD file extension is primarily a Dynamic Data Log created by acoustic and vibration testing hardware from Brüel & Kjær (now HBK). In industrial testing, these logs store high-frequency dynamic response measurements. However, the .LDD extension is heavily fragmented. It is also used as a Logical Datacenter Diagram in legacy Microsoft Visual Studio environments, and occasionally associated with proprietary Laser Dispatch CNC machines or localized data dictionaries in LEGO Digital Designer.

Working with an .LDD file is notoriously difficult due to its proprietary constraints and extreme fragmentation. Brüel & Kjær logs are massive, compiled binary files that demand expensive, highly specialized enterprise suites like BK Connect to simply view the data. Without active licenses, the measurement data is locked. Users typically need to extract these results to analyze the vibration and acoustic metrics in universal data science tools, requiring an urgent workaround to escape the closed ecosystem.

The best conversion targets for a dynamic data log are CSV, TXT, or XML. Converting to CSV allows the acoustic data to be plotted in Excel or Python, though proprietary header metadata or specialized 3D sound map parameters may be lost during the translation. For Visual Studio diagrams, converting the XML-based structure to VSDX or PDF is ideal for sharing layouts without needing a developer environment.

Because .LDD spans everything from high-end acoustic testing to CNC laser paths, it is extremely difficult to open or convert using generic tools. Standard online converters inevitably fail because they cannot guess which binary structure the file uses. Often, only the original testing software can properly decode and export the data points. Fortunately, just drag and drop your file into convert.guru to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. Our advanced engine will inspect the file's internal signature, extract any readable metadata, and provide a secure conversion path whenever the underlying format is identifiable.

Convert.Guru analyzes your LDD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The LDD Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LDD converter.
