About L2R files
A .L2R file is a proprietary game replay log generated by the MMORPG Lineage II. Unlike standard video files (like MP4 or MOV), this file does not contain actual video or audio streams. Instead, it holds a sequence of mathematical instructions, coordinates, and timestamps that tell the game engine how to recreate a specific play session in real-time. This results in a massive file size advantage - a 30-minute battle might only be a few kilobytes - but is a major drawback for sharing. You cannot open an .L2R file in VLC Media Player or edit it in Adobe Premiere Pro. It requires the exact version of the Lineage II client used to record it; if the game updates, old replay files often become unreadable due to engine changes. To "convert" this file for YouTube or archiving, you must load the replay within the game client and use screen recording software like OBS Studio or Bandicam to capture the playback as a standard video file. For archiving gameplay data without the visual component, users typically look to extract combat logs, though this is less common.
Convert.Guru analyzes your L2R file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert L2R file to EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP, SAV or DAT, you can use Lineage II or similar software from the "Game Replay Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to L2R, try Lineage II or another comparable tool in the "Game Replay Storage" category.
The L2R Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our L2R converter.
