It stores the exact configuration mapping standard computer keyboard keys to virtual piano keys. A secondary, widespread use is the SAS Keyboard Macro File, utilized by SAS software to save custom keyboard shortcuts and macros for data analytics workflows.
The main disadvantage of a .KMF file is its highly specific, proprietary nature. These files are not designed to be shared across different applications.
