About JNR files
A .JNR file is a session recording created by HomeMeeting's JoinNet web conferencing software. These files capture multiplexed streams from virtual meetings, including compressed audio, webcam video, vector-based whiteboard annotations, and text chat logs. They are primarily used to archive remote classes, business meetings, and online collaborations.
The main disadvantage of the .JNR format is extreme vendor lock-in. It is a highly proprietary, closed container format. You cannot play a .JNR file in standard media players like VLC or Windows Media Player, nor can you upload it directly to YouTube or view it on a mobile device natively. Sharing these files requires the recipient to download and install the specialized JoinNet client or standalone player.
To make these recordings accessible, users must convert .JNR files to standard video formats like MP4, AVI, or WMV. Note that during conversion to a flat raster video, interactive elements like scrollable chat logs and independent whiteboard layers are permanently burned into the video frame and cannot be isolated later.
Standard online converters fail to process .JNR files because they lack the proprietary rendering engine needed to synchronize the vector whiteboard commands with the specific audio and video codecs. Often, only the original JoinNet software can properly read or export the data. Our analysis tools can inspect the file, extract readable text metadata, and attempt to isolate embedded standard media streams if supported.
Convert.Guru analyzes your JNR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
