The .IVI extension serves two distinct, high-friction purposes that often confuse users. Most commonly (44%), it acts as a Video Evidence Management file generated by i-PRO Video Insight (formerly Panasonic Security). These files are designed for secure surveillance logging, not casual viewing. They often wrap standard video streams (like H.264) inside a proprietary container to ensure chain-of-custody integrity, which means standard players like VLC Media Player or Windows Media Player will fail to open them. To share this footage with law enforcement or legal teams, you must convert the file to a universally compatible format like MP4 or AVI.
Alternatively, your file may be an Italian Declaration of Intent (Dichiarazione d'intento) used by the Agenzia delle Entrate. In this context, the file contains XML-structured tax data required for electronic invoicing verification. These are strictly for data interchange between accounting software and government servers. Opening them in a text editor reveals raw code, not a form. For archiving or printing, these must be converted (rendered) into a human-readable PDF. Other niche uses include solar curve data from HT Instruments or incident reports from Lumivero's software, both of which are best managed by converting the underlying data tables to XLSX or CSV for analysis in Microsoft Excel.
