Convert ITDB to another file type
To convert ITDB databases to another format, you need Apple iTunes or other Database software.
Convert a file to ITDB
To convert other file formats to the "iTunes Library Database" file type, you need software like Apple iTunes or a similar tool.
About ITDB files
The .itdb file is an SQLite database used primarily by Apple iTunes and Apple Music to store your music library metadata, including play counts, track ratings, playlists, and the iTunes Genius database. These files, commonly named iTunes Library.itdb or iTunes Library Genius.itdb, track how your music is organized without storing the actual audio media.
While efficient for Apple software, the .itdb format has major disadvantages. It acts as a closed ecosystem. You cannot easily open it in a standard text editor, and if you switch to a non-Apple music player or a streaming service, your metadata is trapped. Standard online converters usually fail to process it because Apple's specific database schema is proprietary, undocumented, and complex.
Users typically want to convert .itdb data into CSV, XML, or JSON to preserve their library statistics, migrate playlists to other software, or simply back up their data in a readable format. Because of the proprietary nature of this SQLite database, direct conversion is extremely difficult. Often, the best workaround is to export an XML file directly from within iTunes.
Since this is a closed format, third-party extraction can be messy and unpredictable. However, just drag and drop your .itdb file into convert.guru to identify the file format, view its underlying SQLite structure, and convert readable text or database tables when supported.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ITDB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ITDB file to DB, SQLITE, SQLITE3, MDB, ACCDB, DBF, ODB, FDB, GDB, MYD, FRM or SQL, you can use Apple iTunes or similar software from the "Database File" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert NDF, SQLITE3, BAK, RDB, SQL, DB4, MDF, MDB, LDF, DB, DB3 or SQLITE files to ITDB, try Apple iTunes or another comparable tool in the "Database File" category.
The ITDB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ITDB converter.
