About ILDOC files
The .ILDOC file is a QuickSilver Document used by BroadVision QuickSilver (formerly known as Interleaf). These files are designed for enterprise-level desktop publishing, specifically for managing massive, highly structured technical manuals, aerospace documentation, and complex multi-volume catalogs.
The main disadvantage of the .ILDOC format is vendor lock-in. It is a highly proprietary, closed file format that requires an expensive enterprise software license to open or edit. Standard word processors like Microsoft Word or web browsers cannot read these files. Sharing an .ILDOC file with an external vendor or client is usually impossible unless they also maintain the exact same software environment.
To ensure accessibility, you must convert these documents to universal targets. Exporting to PDF is the best solution for preserving the complex visual layout, cross-references, and pagination. For data migration or editing outside of the QuickSilver ecosystem, extracting the content to XML or raw TXT is required, though this will abandon the original desktop publishing formatting.
Because this is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters fail to process it. The layout engine is undocumented, meaning only the original software can properly export the exact data. However, you can still use our system to inspect the file.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ILDOC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
