About IDX0 files

A .idx0 file is a cache index file utilized by the RuneScape MMORPG client. It acts as a directory map, telling the game engine where specific 3D models, audio tracks, and textures are stored within the main DAT cache files. These files are managed exclusively by the RuneScape Client created by Jagex. Users often encounter these files when trying to datamine game assets or clear disk space. The major disadvantage of the .idx0 format is its highly proprietary and closed nature. It contains no actual media, just hexadecimal pointers to the real data. Standard file converters fail completely because they expect standard media headers, not an internal game map. You cannot directly convert an .idx0 file to a JPG or MP3. Instead, you need specialized cache unpacking tools to extract the linked data. This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because it lacks standard file signatures and relies entirely on the RuneScape engine for context. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your IDX0 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
