About IDE files

An .IDE file is primarily an Item Definition file used by the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series, such as GTA III and GTA: San Andreas. These files store 3D object properties, texture indexing, and physics parameters for the game engine. Depending on the software, the .IDE extension is also heavily used as an internal SQLite database in Android Studio, or as a shock and vibration sensor data log generated by Mide Slam Stick devices. You generally need to open or convert these files when creating custom game mods, debugging Android applications, or analyzing engineering data. The main disadvantage of the .IDE format is its fragmented, proprietary nature. A GTA asset file is just formatted text, while a Mide data log is actually a hidden MKV container, and Android Studio files are binary SQLITE databases. Because the extension is shared across drastically different industries, standard online converters will instantly fail. They blindly assume all .IDE files are the same. If you are modifying GTA, your best conversion target is a standard text format like TXT or CSV for easier batch editing. If you have a sensor log, you must extract the underlying Matroska data to export it to MATLAB or CSV. This file format is notoriously difficult to process without the exact original software. Usually, only the specific game engine or proprietary viewer can properly parse the data. Our advanced analysis detects the true underlying format. We can inspect the file, reveal whether it is an SQLite database, an MKV container, or raw text, and extract the internal content whenever supported.

Convert.Guru analyzes your IDE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted IDE10, PDE, INO and HEX files.

The IDE Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our IDE converter.
