About ICURSORFX files

The .icursorfx file is a proprietary iCursor Effect File used to store animated particle effects, visual trails, and pointer enhancements for the macOS mouse cursor. These files contain configuration parameters, coordinate data, and sometimes embedded graphic assets that dictate how the cursor interacts with the computer screen in real-time.

They are created and opened exclusively using iCursor, a macOS utility application developed by GioFX.

The main disadvantage of the .icursorfx format is its highly restricted, locked-in ecosystem. It is completely proprietary and useless outside of the native iCursor application. Users cannot open it on Windows, Linux, or mobile devices. It is not supported by any modern web browser or standard image viewer. If you move to a PC or stop using the specific macOS app, your custom effects become inaccessible.

Users often attempt to convert .icursorfx to standard web-ready animation formats like GIF, WEBP, or standard Windows cursor files like ANI or CUR. However, because this is a closed format that defines a real-time particle rendering system rather than frame-by-frame animation, standard online converters always fail to process it. Only the original software can properly read or export the rendering data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - like base64 encoded PNG textures or readable XML configuration data - viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ICURSORFX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
