About ICR files

An .ICR file is primarily used as a medical study record properties file by ICRco or as a 3D medical image data file by 3D Systems Corporation. These files contain proprietary healthcare imaging, patient metadata, or complex 3D slice depth data. Occasionally, the .ICR extension is used for Catalog Content Reports in Cognos Impromptu, Image Comparer Results by Bolide Software, or even Linux executable binaries (ELF).

Because most .ICR files are closed, proprietary medical formats, they are extremely difficult to work with outside of their original software environments. Users often need to convert them because these files require expensive, specialized clinical workstations to view. They are not supported by standard web browsers, and free image viewers cannot parse their proprietary headers. Standard online converters fail because they lack the specific healthcare data codecs required to extract the images.

Converting an .ICR file to standard formats like JPG, PNG, or PDF is the best way to share the visual data, but doing so will strip away essential medical metadata and interactive 3D layering. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. convert.guru can inspect the internal file structure, determine whether you are dealing with a Java-based ICRco file or a Linux binary, and extract text or underlying content if supported.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ICR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PDF, JPEG and JPG files.

The ICR Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP.
