About HDPMX files

The .HDPMX file format is a HotDocs Publisher Mapping XML File. It is primarily used by HotDocs, a widely used enterprise document automation platform. This file stores variable mapping data. It links the data fields collected from user interviews to the placeholders inside legal or corporate document templates. The main disadvantage of the .HDPMX format is its strict dependency on the HotDocs ecosystem. It is a highly specialized file. You cannot simply open it in a standard word processor like Microsoft Word. Without an active, often expensive, HotDocs subscription, the file cannot generate documents. Furthermore, the proprietary schema makes the raw data hard to read for average users. If you need to migrate your data or analyze the template structure without HotDocs, you must convert or extract the data. The best target formats are standard XML, TXT, or CSV. Converting to these formats extracts the raw text and variable names, but you will lose the execution logic and the direct integration with HotDocs templates.
