About H4B files

The .h4b file format is a proprietary preset bundle used by Line 6 POD HD400 Edit software. It stores a complete backup of guitar amplifier models, effects chains, and system settings for the POD HD400 hardware unit. Because it is a closed, binary format designed specifically for one hardware generation, it has severe limitations. You cannot open it natively in modern DAWs or web browsers, and it is incompatible with newer Line 6 units like the Helix without manual recreation. Users typically need to extract individual h4e preset files from the bundle or convert the parameter data to TXT or XML to document their tone settings. Standard online converters fail to process .h4b files because they lack the specific decoding algorithms for Line 6 SysEx data. This format is notoriously difficult to open without the original software connected to the physical hardware. If our analysis detects underlying text or embedded SysEx metadata, viewing or extracting partial tone data may still be possible without the physical pedal.
