About GTABLE files

A .gtable file is a Google Fusion Table Shortcut. Originally created and managed by Google Drive, these files functioned as pointers to data visualizations and database tables hosted on the now-defunct Google Fusion Tables web application. The primary disadvantage of this format is its obsolescence and reliance on cloud infrastructure. Google permanently shut down Fusion Tables in December 2019. When a user downloaded a .gtable file to their local computer, they did not download the actual rows and columns of data. Instead, they downloaded a tiny file containing JSON-formatted metadata, a document ID, and a URL pointing to Google's servers. Consequently, offline access to the raw data is impossible if it was not exported prior to the shutdown. Because the data payload is completely absent, converting a .gtable file to standard spreadsheet formats like CSV or XLSX is not possible. The best realistic conversion targets are JSON or TXT to safely archive the remaining metadata and original reference links. This file format is notoriously difficult to open or convert because standard spreadsheet applications expect a data container, not a proprietary web shortcut. Standard online converters fail when they attempt to parse nonexistent spreadsheet cells. We can inspect the file and show its internal text content, allowing you to extract the original document ID or embedded metadata.

Convert.Guru analyzes your GTABLE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
