About GROOVE files
A .groove file is an ACID Groove File originally developed by Sonic Foundry and now maintained by MAGIX for ACID Pro. It is a rhythm texturing template, also known as a groove quantization map. This file allows music producers to extract the "feel," timing, or swing from one audio loop and apply it to another loop or MIDI track to humanize the beat.
The main disadvantage of the .groove format is that it is a proprietary settings file, not an actual audio file. It contains zero waveform data - only mathematical timing markers used exclusively by the ACID engine. Therefore, it is impossible to directly convert a .groove file into an MP3 or WAV file using a standard online audio converter.
Because it is highly specific to ACID Pro's "Groove Pool" feature, there are no direct target formats. To share a groove as audio, you must apply the .groove file to a track inside ACID Pro, and then render that specific track to WAV or MP3. Standard converters fail because they look for audio data where none exists. However, convert.guru can still analyze your .groove file. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is, view the internal data structure, and verify the file is intact.

The GROOVE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GROOVE converter.
