Convert GPU to another file type
To convert GPU utility programs to another format, you need GP2X Linux OS or other Executable software.
Convert a file to GPU
To convert other file formats to the "GP2X Utility Script" file type, you need software like GP2X Linux OS or a similar tool.
About GPU files
.GPU files are utility programs or executable scripts created exclusively for the GamePark GP2X, an open-source, Linux-based handheld video game console. They are typically used to run system tweaks, file managers, firmware updates, or emulators directly from the console's graphical interface.
These files are natively executed by the GP2X operating system. On a modern PC, you can often view them with advanced text editors like Notepad++ because many of them are simply plain text Linux shell scripts. However, if the file is a compiled binary, you cannot read or run it without the original console or a dedicated emulator.
The main disadvantage of the .GPU format is its strict hardware and platform dependency. It is entirely useless as a standalone program on standard Windows or macOS systems. Furthermore, modern web browsers and operating systems do not natively recognize the extension, leading to confusion when downloading or archiving retro gaming files.
Because these files are often standard shell scripts, you may want to convert or rename them to SH or TXT to easily edit them on a computer. If you are trying to port the utility to another system, extraction into a ZIP archive might be necessary. Note that converting a compiled ARM-based executable to a modern PC format like .EXE is completely impossible.
Executable files are notoriously difficult to convert because they are deeply tied to specific CPU architectures. Standard online converters will fail to process these niche console files. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GPU file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert GPU file to CPU, EXE, MSI, APP, DMG, DEB, RPM, PKG, RUN, SH, BAT or CMD, you can use GP2X Linux OS or similar software from the "Handheld Console System Utility" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert JAR, APP, SCR, IPA, COM, AAB, PS1, DMG, VBS, EXE, XAPK or MSI files to GPU, try GP2X Linux OS or another comparable tool in the "Handheld Console System Utility" category.
The GPU Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GPU converter.
