About GPN files
The .GPN file extension is primarily associated with Untis (formerly gp-Untis), the market-leading school scheduling software developed by Untis GmbH (previously Gruber & Petters). This file serves as the master database for a school's entire timetable project, containing complex relational data about classes, teachers, rooms, time constraints, and substitution logic.
Because .GPN files are proprietary databases designed for the Untis desktop application, they cannot be opened directly by standard office software like Microsoft Excel or Word. A common catch arises when school administrators mistakenly send the raw .GPN file to staff or students, who find themselves unable to view the schedule. These files are not meant for distribution; they are strictly for the planning stage.
To view or share the data, the file must be opened in Untis and exported. The most practical conversion targets are PDF for printing official schedules, HTML for uploading 'Info-Stundenplan' (timetables) to school websites, or XLSX (Excel) for further data manipulation. For aviation users, a .GPN file might alternatively be a GlidePlan map document used for flight path planning, though this usage is rare (approx. <1%).
Convert.Guru analyzes your GPN file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted PNG, JPG, XMIND, SA3 and SA8 files.

The GPN Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GPN converter.
