About GJD files
A .GJD file typically functions as a proprietary data format, predominantly serving as a Xara Generated Document for vector graphics or a Game Resource Archive used in 1990s PC games like The 7th Guest and Gabriel Knight. When used in design, the file stores complex page layouts and graphical elements. When used in gaming, it acts as a massive container file that bundles hundreds of internal assets into a single block to optimize read speeds from early CD-ROM drives. To open the graphics variant, you generally need Xara Designer Pro or legacy Xara software. For the game archives, dedicated extraction utilities like Dragon UnPACKer are required to parse the header and dump the contents. Users often need to convert or extract these files because the .GJD format is entirely closed, unreadable by web browsers, and unsupported by standard operating systems without specialized software. Game archives are particularly frustrating because standard tools like WinRAR cannot extract the internal data. For graphic documents, the best conversion targets are standard PDF or SVG files to retain vector scalability, or JPG and PNG for quick viewing. For game archives, you do not convert the file directly; instead, you extract its internal contents, yielding standard WAV audio and BMP image files. Because this file format is extremely difficult to open or convert, standard online converters consistently fail to process it. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GJD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted SQW and PKPAK files.

The GJD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GJD converter.
