About GENOME files

The .GENOME file format is exclusively used by the mobile game Cell Lab, developed by 3%A4terskog">Petter Säterskog. It stores the genetic design and biological parameters of custom microorganisms created by players. The primary disadvantage of this format is its strictly proprietary nature. It is heavily tied to the Android ecosystem and requires a mobile device to function natively. Files cannot be natively opened, read, or edited by standard desktop applications. Users often want to convert this file to share designs online, back up their progress, or attempt to modify the genetic parameters on a computer. Standard online converters fail to process .GENOME files because they lack the specific decoding algorithms used by the game engine. Because this is a closed format, often only the original software can properly read or export the data. Our analysis tools inspect the file and show internal text or content. If the file contains embedded structures like JSON or plain text, viewing or conversion to TXT or JSON may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your GENOME file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The GENOME Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GENOME converter.
