About GDRAW files
A .gdraw file is a desktop shortcut created by Google Drive that points to a Google Drawings canvas stored in the cloud. It is plain text formatted as JSON. Users often attempt to convert these files offline, incorrectly assuming they contain vector graphics or raster image data. This is a major disadvantage of the format: a .gdraw file is essentially useless without an active internet connection and the correct Google account permissions. Because the file only contains a URL and a document ID, standard online converters consistently fail to process it. The actual drawing is locked inside a proprietary cloud ecosystem. To share these graphics, you must convert the cloud document to standard formats. The best target formats are SVG for scalable vector editing in Adobe Illustrator, PNG for web graphics with transparent backgrounds, and PDF for document distribution. Because this file format is a proprietary cloud pointer, it is difficult to convert directly. Only the original web application can export the graphic data. Once you have the URL, you can open the file in your browser and use the native download options to obtain the actual image.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GDRAW file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The GDRAW Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GDRAW converter.
