A .gbcskin file is a custom Game Boy Color controller layout archive, natively utilized by GBA4iOS and the Delta emulator on Apple iOS. These files store the visual on-screen interface and the coordinate mapping for digital buttons, allowing gamers to personalize their retro gaming experience.
Despite its unique extension, a .gbcskin file is technically a standard ZIP archive in disguise. The developer intentionally changed the file extension so the iOS operating system would recognize it and immediately route it to the emulator app rather than extracting it. Unfortunately, this means desktop operating systems and standard design software cannot open or edit the file natively.
