Convert GBAS to another file type
To convert GBAS source files to another format, you need GLBasic or other Developer software.
Convert a file to GBAS
To convert other file formats to the "BASIC Source Code File" file type, you need software like GLBasic or a similar tool.
About GBAS files
The .gbas file format stores uncompiled source code written in GLBasic, a commercial BASIC dialect developed by Dream Design Entertainment. These files are primarily used by developers to write cross-platform games and applications.
To write, debug, and compile these files natively, developers use the GLBasic IDE. Because .gbas is a niche and ecosystem-locked extension, standard operating systems will not recognize it and usually prompt you to select an app from the app store. Furthermore, you cannot run a .gbas file directly; it must be compiled into native machine code (such as an .EXE or .APK) to execute. Sharing these files with non-programmers is often problematic because they appear as unrecognized file types without syntax highlighting.
Converting .gbas to TXT or PDF is the best solution for sharing the raw code snippet with clients, peers, or non-technical users. You can also rename or convert the file to a standard BAS format to force other code editors to apply basic syntax highlighting, though specific GLBasic commands will not be natively recognized by other compilers.
Because .gbas is ultimately a plain-text file, it is easy to read if you know how to handle it. Standard online converters often fail because they do not have a specific profile for the obscure .gbas extension. We instantly parse the underlying text, allowing you to read the code directly in your browser and export it to universally supported document formats.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GBAS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The GBAS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GBAS converter.
