About GALLERY files
A .gallery file is a proprietary resource package used by SMART Notebook software. It stores collections of educational multimedia assets, including images, audio clips, Adobe Flash animations, interactive widgets, and background templates for use on SMART Board interactive displays. Teachers and content creators use these files to share specific lesson resources without exporting an entire presentation.
The current format has severe disadvantages. It is highly proprietary and locked into the SMART ecosystem. Opening it natively requires an active, paid subscription to the SMART Learning Suite. The files can exceed 100MB depending on the embedded media, and they are completely unsupported by standard web browsers, document viewers, or basic image editors. Sharing a .gallery file with someone who does not have the specific SMART software installed will result in an unreadable file.
To bypass these limits, users must extract the raw media assets from inside the gallery. The best conversion targets are standard archive formats like ZIP, which allows access to the individual media components like PNG, JPG, or MP3 files stored inside. Extracting the file will strip away the proprietary XML placement data, meaning the interactive whiteboard functionality will be lost, but the static media will be preserved.
Because .gallery is a closed, proprietary package, standard online document converters fail to process it. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data and maintain the interactive macros. If our analysis detects the underlying compressed structure - which is often a standard ZIP archive in disguise - viewing or extracting the embedded content may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GALLERY file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert GALLERY file to PDF, JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, TIF, WEBP, ICO, CUR, PSD or PSB, you can use SMART Notebook or similar software from the "Interactive Whiteboard Resource Collection" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The GALLERY Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GALLERY converter.
