About FWDICT files

A .fwdict file is a custom user dictionary created by the Softpress Freeway web design software. It stores lists of custom words, brand names, and technical terms added by users to prevent the Freeway WYSIWYG editor from flagging them as spelling errors. Softpress Freeway was historically popular among macOS web designers, but it has largely been superseded by modern, cloud-based web builders. The .fwdict format is a proprietary, closed system. This means your curated vocabulary lists are trapped in an obsolete ecosystem. You cannot natively import a .fwdict file into standard text editors, Microsoft Office, or modern web platforms without a workaround. The most practical conversion targets are plain text .TXT or comma-separated .CSV files. Extracting the words allows you to migrate your custom dictionary to modern spell-checkers using standard .DIC files. Because the .fwdict format is highly specific and poorly documented, standard online converters fail to process it. Usually, only the original Softpress software can reliably read or export the data. Our platform can inspect the file's internal structure. If our analysis detects unencrypted, embedded text strings, you can easily salvage your vocabulary list directly from your browser.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FWDICT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
