About FSTAB files
The .fstab file, short for File Systems Table, is a core system configuration file found in Unix-like operating systems, including Linux. It maps block devices to their corresponding mount points and defines the parameters the kernel uses to mount them. While it can be edited by terminal-based text editors like GNU nano or Vim, the .fstab format is notoriously unforgiving. A single misplaced space or incorrect UUID can result in an unbootable system. Furthermore, it is entirely plain text without any structured data markers like tags or key-value structures, making it difficult to integrate directly into modern Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) workflows. To parse and manage this data, users often need to convert .fstab to structured data formats like JSON or CSV. Transforming the file to TXT is also common for safe sharing and documentation. Because .fstab relies heavily on Unix-specific mounting conventions, typical document converters fail to understand its tabular nature. Our tool can securely parse the raw text, allowing you to view its contents safely without risking system stability.
Convert.Guru analyzes your FSTAB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert FSTAB file to SYS, DLL, EXE, DRV, VXD, 386, COM, BAT, CMD, SCR, PIF or LNK, you can use Linux or similar software from the "System Mount Configuration" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MSI, EXE, REG, MST, LNK, CAB, CAT, DRV, INF, SYS, MSU or DLL files to FSTAB, try Linux or another comparable tool in the "System Mount Configuration" category.
The FSTAB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FSTAB converter.
