To convert other file formats to the "Proprietary Database Segment" file type, you need software like Zope Object Database or a similar tool.

About FRS files

The .frs file extension primarily represents three distinct formats: a FileRepository database segment for the Zope Object Database (ZODB), a FarEast Report Writer resource file (or Frisk label printer file), or a Flash Renamer Script created by RL Vision. These files store fragmented database objects, structured report templates, or automated batch-renaming rules.

To open or process these files properly, you need the original software. ZODB database segments require a running Python environment utilizing the Zope Object Database library. Flash Renamer scripts open with Flash Renamer. Report files are tied to specific, often legacy, printing and reporting systems.

Users often attempt to convert .frs files because they lack the highly specialized software required to read them. These formats are restrictive and often frustrating. A database segment is useless without the primary database file, and proprietary scripts or report templates cannot execute or display correctly outside their parent applications.

If the file is a script, extracting the contents to a standard TXT or PY file is the best approach to read the underlying logic. For report resources, exporting the data to CSV or PDF is ideal to preserve the structure, though standard tools will fail to do this automatically.

Because .frs is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters fail to process it. Emphasize that often only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, just drag and drop your file to convert.guru to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. We can inspect the file, show raw text or internal content, and if our analysis detects a supported underlying format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FRS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted SNAPFIRESHOW, SNAPFIREPROJECT and WPG files.

The FRS Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FRS converter.
