About FPBF files

A .FPBF file is a Mac OS X Burn Folder used by Apple macOS to stage files before burning them to a CD or DVD. Rather than copying actual data, it acts as a container for aliases (shortcuts) that point to files stored elsewhere on the Mac hard drive.

The biggest disadvantage of the .FPBF format is that it contains no real data. It is a proprietary macOS package structure. If you send a .FPBF file to a Windows user, upload it to a cloud drive, or attach it to an email, the recipient will only receive broken shortcuts. Furthermore, optical media (CDs and DVDs) are largely obsolete in modern workflows.

To share the intended files, you should bypass the burn folder entirely and compress the original files into a universal ZIP archive, or package them into an ISO or DMG disk image.

This format is difficult to convert because the payload is missing; an online tool cannot reach into your local hard drive to retrieve the actual files. Standard online converters fail for this exact reason. Our platform can inspect the .FPBF metadata structure to show you the local file paths it references, helping you track down the original data.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FPBF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PICTCLIPPING, WEBLOC and TEXTCLIPPING files.
