In the agricultural sector, an .FGP file is typically a Farm Works Guidance Pattern. These files, created by Trimble (formerly Farm Works) software, store GPS navigation lines (such as straight AB lines or pivots) used by tractors and automated steering systems. The major problem here is proprietary lock-in: these binary files are designed to communicate only with Trimble displays. They are effectively invisible to standard mapping tools like Google Earth or open-source GIS software like QGIS.
