About FGP files

.FGP files serve three distinct purposes: Construction Defect Management tracking, Agricultural Guidance Patterns for GPS farm machinery, and GraphQL Fusion Gateway packages. In agriculture, these files are managed by Trimble Ag Software (formerly Farm Works Mapping). For construction, they are handled by FIRST-GRiP, and in developer environments, they are generated by Hot Chocolate GraphQL frameworks. Users frequently need to convert these files because the current formats are deeply proprietary. Trimble's farm data locks you into their specific display ecosystem, making it frustrating to share field paths with competing tractor brands or external agronomists. FIRST-GRiP files are often completely encrypted to prevent tampering, acting as closed data vaults unless you hold an active software license. For agricultural data, the best target formats are KML or SHP (Shapefile) for universal GIS compatibility, though custom equipment settings may be lost during export. For GraphQL setups, the ideal target is standard ZIP or JSON. Because these file formats are heavily siloed and often encrypted, standard online converters predictably fail to read the internal structure.
