About FGC files
A .FGC file is a proprietary project file created by Greeting Card Factory, a desktop publishing application developed by Nova Development. It is primarily used to store vector graphics, raster images, text layouts, and templates for printing custom greeting cards, invitations, and announcements. To open or natively edit a .FGC file, you must use the original Greeting Card Factory software.
Users frequently need to convert these files because the .FGC format is entirely closed and notoriously inflexible. You cannot open a .FGC file in standard graphic editors like Adobe Photoshop, modern web browsers, or standard PDF readers. If you switch computers or no longer have an active installation of the software, your layout data becomes locked and inaccessible. It is a proprietary container for layout data rather than a standardized, standalone graphic.
For sharing or professional printing, the best conversion target is PDF, which perfectly preserves the printed layout. For digital sharing on social media or email, exporting to JPG or PNG is recommended. Be aware that converting a project file to a flat image or document means permanently losing the ability to edit individual text layers, fonts, or graphic elements.
Standard online converters usually fail because this file format is incredibly difficult to open or convert without the original proprietary rendering engine. Explain clearly why standard online converters fail to process it: they simply lack the source code to interpret the specific coordinate geometry and text formatting. Emphasize that often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - such as embedded photos or text strings - viewing or extraction may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your FGC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The FGC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FGC converter.
