About FC1 files
The .FC1 file is a save state created by the FCEUX Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) emulator. It stores the exact state of the emulated console's RAM and CPU at a specific moment in time, specifically assigned to save "Slot 1". You must use the FCEUX emulator on a desktop operating system to open and resume this save state. This format presents significant limitations. It is highly proprietary and acts as a raw binary memory dump rather than a standard, structured save file (like battery-backed SRAM .SAV files). Because it is essentially a snapshot of active memory, an .FC1 file is tightly coupled to the exact .NES ROM file you were playing. If the ROM version, region, or header changes, the .FC1 file breaks and the emulator will crash. Standard online converters fail to process this format because it is not media, text, or standard document data. You cannot realistically convert an .FC1 file to MP4, PDF, or even to the save state formats of competing emulators like Nestopia or Mesen, because every emulator handles memory mapping differently. This file format is difficult to open or convert, and often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your FC1 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The FC1 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FC1 converter.
