F4V is a legacy video container format developed by Adobe specifically for the Flash Player ecosystem. Unlike the older FLV format which used proprietary codecs, F4V is based on the ISO base media file format (MPEG-4 Part 12), typically housing H.264 video and AAC audio content.

With the End of Life (EOL) of Adobe Flash Player in December 2020, modern web browsers (Chrome, Edge, Safari) and mobile operating systems (iOS, Android) no longer support playback of these files.
