About EXY files
The .EXY file is a compiled binary file, primarily used as a Structural Analysis Add-on Module for ETABS by Computers and Structures, Inc. (CSI). In most cases, an .EXY file is simply a standard Windows EXE file that has been renamed. This is often done to bypass email security filters or to act as a specific plugin for structural engineering software. Executable files are notoriously difficult to share because modern email providers block them automatically. They are platform-dependent, running exclusively on Windows, and pose severe security risks if downloaded from untrusted sources. You cannot easily view their contents on macOS or mobile devices. Furthermore, you cannot convert an .EXY file into a PDF or JPG because it contains compiled machine code, not human-readable document data. If you need to run the file, you generally must rename the extension back to EXE. Because this is a closed, compiled format, standard online converters fail to process it. Our analysis can detect the underlying executable structure and extract embedded resources like icons, text strings, or compressed data if the embedded format is supported.
Convert.Guru analyzes your EXY file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted FXY, UXY and KNF files.

The EXY Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EXY converter.
