About ESPROJ files

The .esproj file is an Espresso Project File originally developed by MacRabbit for the Espresso web editor on macOS. It acts as a configuration container that stores the project's directory structure, remote server publishing credentials (FTP/SFTP), window layouts, and user preferences. It does not contain actual website code like HTML or CSS.

The primary disadvantage of the .esproj format is its proprietary lock-in. It is tightly bound to a specific macOS application, making it useless on Windows, Linux, or in modern, cross-platform IDEs like VS Code or WebStorm. If you no longer have access to a Mac or the Espresso app, you cannot natively retrieve your server deployment settings. Standard online converters fail to process it because it is an internal settings container, not a visual document or media file.

To recover your settings, your best targets are standard text formats like TXT, XML, or JSON. Because this file format is difficult to open or convert, often only the original software can properly read or export the data. Our analysis often detects a supported underlying structure, allowing you to manually extract your server credentials and file paths.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ESPROJ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
