About ENZ files
The .ENZ file extension is primarily an Encrypted Backup Archive generated by Cobian Backup. This software is widely used to create scheduled data backups, and the .ENZ format ensures the data is securely encrypted at rest. A secondary but common use is for EndNote Connection Files, which store specific configurations for connecting to online academic databases and library catalogs. Additionally, a small fraction of .ENZ files act as layout settings for accounting tools like MYOB Encore or Invoice Expert.
Because these formats are highly proprietary or strictly encrypted, standard conversion is severely limited. Cobian Backup .ENZ files require the original decryption passphrase and the Cobian software to restore the contents. EndNote files are strictly application settings meant to be imported directly into the reference manager, not converted into standard text or document formats. This means traditional online converters will completely fail to process them. You cannot simply convert an encrypted .ENZ file to a ZIP or PDF without bypassing the encryption layer, which is impossible without the key. Our advanced analysis tool can inspect the file headers to determine whether you are dealing with a backup archive, an EndNote setting, or an accounting template. If our analysis detects an unencrypted text-based configuration, we can extract the raw text for you to read.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ENZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted EMZ, MMPA, ROTE and _AC files.

The ENZ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ENZ converter.
