Extract text from Easy-PhotoPrint calendars (EL4)

The .EL4 file is a calendar layout project created by Canon Easy-PhotoPrint EX. Users create these files to design, save, and print custom photo calendars at home. The file stores the calendar template, dates, custom text, and the structural arrangement of the printed pages.
The only official way to open and interact with this file is by using Canon Easy-PhotoPrint EX, a desktop printing application originally bundled with older Canon PIXMA and SELPHY printers.
The major disadvantage of the .EL4 format is that it is a proprietary, closed file type. It is not supported by web browsers, mobile devices, or standard graphic design software like Adobe Photoshop. Furthermore, the file is highly fragile. It does not actually contain the high-resolution digital photos you selected for your calendar; it only stores the local file paths pointing to those images on your hard drive. If you move the source photos, delete them, or transfer the .EL4 file to a different computer, the images will appear as missing and the layout will break.
To safely share your calendar or preserve it for the future, you should convert the project to a PDF document or a flat JPG image. Converting to these standard formats permanently bakes the photos into the layout, ensuring they can be viewed on any device without the original software.
Because .EL4 is a closed, software-specific blueprint, standard online converters fail to process it. Usually, only the original Canon software can properly read the layout instructions and export the visual data.
