The biggest disadvantage of the .EDJ format is its closed, compiled nature. It uses a specialized dictionary-based compression format known as EET. This means you cannot open an .EDJ file in a text editor, nor can you view the graphics in a standard image editor like Adobe Photoshop. All the embedded design assets are locked away inside a binary package, which creates a frustrating barrier if you only want to tweak a theme color or extract a specific background image.
To modify the file, users must extract its contents. The best conversion targets for an .EDJ file are the underlying raw assets: PNG and JPG for graphics, TTF for embedded fonts, and EDC for the plain-text layout code.
