About EDG files
The .EDG file format is a proprietary document type created by Pacestar EDGE Diagrammer. It stores vector-based flowcharts, organizational charts, block diagrams, and other structural graphics. Because it is a closed format, you generally need the original Pacestar EDGE Diagrammer software running on a Windows PC to open or edit the files. This creates a major disadvantage for modern workflows: .EDG files cannot be opened natively on macOS, Linux, or mobile devices, and they are unreadable by web browsers. Sharing an .EDG file with someone who does not own a Pacestar license usually results in a dead end. To solve this, users must convert .EDG files to accessible formats. The best conversion targets are PDF for universal document sharing, SVG for preserving scalable vector paths, or PNG for embedding in presentations. When converting to these formats, be aware that proprietary smart-connector behaviors or software-specific grid alignments will be lost, leaving only the static visual output. Because this is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters often fail to process it. Only the original software contains the exact logic to render the shapes perfectly.
