About EDG files
A .EDG file is a proprietary project file created by Pacestar EDGE Diagrammer, a specialized tool used for creating flowcharts, network diagrams, and organizational charts. These files store vector-based layout information, including shapes, connector lines, text labels, and style definitions that allow the diagram to remain editable and dynamic within the software.
The main friction point with .EDG files is their lack of interoperability. They are strictly proprietary, meaning you cannot open them in standard viewers like Microsoft Paint, web browsers, or even competing diagramming tools like Microsoft Visio. If you send a raw .EDG file to a client or colleague who doesn't possess a licensed copy of Pacestar's software, they will be unable to view it. Furthermore, relying on a niche format for long-term archiving creates a risk of data obsolescence if the software becomes unsupported.
To share these diagrams effectively, conversion is essential. For professional reports, printing, or archiving, converting to PDF is the standard, as it preserves vector scalability and text clarity. For embedding diagrams into web pages, PowerPoint presentations, or Word documents, converting to PNG or JPG is recommended. If you need to manipulate the vector paths in illustration software like Adobe Illustrator, converting to SVG (if supported) or PDF is the best workflow.
Convert.Guru analyzes your EDG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert EDG file to SVG, AI, EPS, PDF, JPG, CDR, WMF, EMF, SWF, FLA, XFL or SKETCH, you can use Pacestar EDGE Diagrammer or similar software from the "Flowchart & Diagram Design" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The EDG Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EDG converter.
