The .e48 file is an Emu48 Save State. It stores the exact RAM, register, and execution state of an emulated Hewlett-Packard 48 series calculator. Users rely on these files to pause and resume their complex mathematical sessions or programming work within the Emu48 software without losing stack data.
This format presents significant challenges for data portability. It is a highly proprietary, uncompressed binary memory dump. You cannot open a .e48 file in standard text editors, web browsers, or general data viewers. The save state is completely dependent on the specific calculator ROM you are emulating (such as the HP 48GX). Standard online converters consistently fail to process these files because they lack the necessary CPU emulation context to decode the HP Saturn processor memory structures.
Direct conversion to readable standard formats like PDF or DOCX is not natively possible from the file itself. The best conversion workaround is to load the .e48 file back into the emulator, then manually export your calculator programs or stack data as standard TXT files or HP binary object files using the emulator's I/O interface.
