Convert DZT to another file type
To convert DZT radar files to another format, you need RADAN or other Data software.
Convert a file to DZT
To convert other file formats to the "Geophysical Radar Trace Data" file type, you need software like RADAN or a similar tool.
About DZT files
The .DZT file extension primarily represents a Ground-penetrating radar (GPR) data file generated by instruments from Geophysical Survey Systems, Inc. (GSSI). These files capture raw two-way travel time and amplitude information used by scientists to map the earth's subsurface. A secondary, completely unrelated use for the .DZT extension is the DirectorZone Title File, a proprietary DVD authoring and video template format used by CyberLink PowerDirector.
Both versions of the .DZT format are highly specialized and suffer from severe compatibility limits. GSSI .DZT files store radar traces in a proprietary binary structure using nanosecond sampling rates, meaning standard spreadsheet or data visualization tools will completely misread the data. The CyberLink .DZT format acts as a closed template container locked to specific aspect ratios and requires a paid software environment to render. Because these files are so strictly tethered to their original ecosystems, standard online converters fail to parse their complex headers or encrypted media bins.
Geophysicists frequently need to convert GSSI .DZT files to CSV for data analysis, to PNG for quick visual radar profiles, or to SGY (SEG-Y) for broader seismic analysis software. For CyberLink users, the goal is often to extract the internal PNG graphics or XML data since the template itself cannot be directly converted into an MP4 video.
This is where convert.guru bridges the gap. While proprietary binary files are notoriously difficult to convert without the original software like GSSI RADAN or CyberLink PowerDirector, you can just drag and drop your .DZT file into our tool to identify its true underlying format. convert.guru will inspect the binary headers, show you raw text, and extract embedded imagery if supported, helping you securely analyze the file without expensive software.

FAQ
If you want to convert DZT file to MP4, AVI, MOV, WMV, FLV, WEBM, MKV, M4V, 3GP, OGV, ASF or RM, you can use RADAN or similar software from the "Ground Penetrating Radar Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MTS, MOV, RMVB, DIVX, RM, H264, TS, WMV, VOB, MP4, XVID or AVI files to DZT, try RADAN or another comparable tool in the "Ground Penetrating Radar Data Storage" category.
The DZT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DZT converter.
