About DZI files

A .DZI file is most frequently a Deep Zoom Image descriptor, an XML-based format originally developed by Microsoft for efficiently streaming high-resolution images over the web. Unlike a standard JPG or PNG, the .DZI file contains no actual image data; instead, it acts as a roadmap, defining the dimensions and tile overlap for a corresponding _files folder where the actual image segments (tiles) are stored. This creates a significant downside: if you try to open a .DZI in Adobe Photoshop or a standard photo viewer, you will either see an error or a screen full of XML code. Furthermore, the file is useless without its accompanying subdirectory of image tiles. A secondary, unrelated use of the extension is for Bilibili video cache segments, which users often find cluttering their storage and wish to convert to playable MP4 video. For Deep Zoom users, the goal is often to "stitch" the tiled pyramid back into a single high-quality TIFF or JPG for printing or archiving. For Bilibili users, the intent is merging segments into a standard video format.

Convert.Guru analyzes your DZI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted JPG, PNG, TIF, NOT and 3DXML files.
