A .DOV file is fundamentally a structured database container, most commonly serving as a packaged dictionary database for educational software applications like SchoolDict. Under the hood, these files often utilize the Firebird relational database engine to store massive indexes of words, definitions, and linguistic metadata.
The primary problem for users is that .DOV files are not human-readable documents. You cannot simply double-click them to open in Microsoft Word or a standard text editor; doing so will result in a garbled display of binary code and database headers.
