Convert DMY to another file type
To convert DMY data files to another format, you need SEMIA or other Data software.
Convert a file to DMY
To convert other file formats to the "Time Series Data" file type, you need software like SEMIA or a similar tool.
About DMY files
The .DMY file is a specialized data container primarily used by PhysioNet's SEMIA software to store Long-Term ST Database (LTSTDB) Time Series Data. These files typically house detailed diagnostic parameters, most notably lengthy human ECG recordings used for advanced medical research and analysis.
The biggest disadvantage of the .DMY format is its highly proprietary and niche nature. Standard data science tools like Microsoft Excel or pandas cannot natively open, read, or process it. Users frequently find themselves locked into the legacy SEMIA software environment, making collaboration and modern data pipeline integration extremely frustrating.
To make this data widely usable, converting the file to standard targets like CSV, JSON, or XML is highly recommended. Converting to these formats ensures broad compatibility, though some proprietary metadata specific to the SEMIA software might be lost in translation.
Because this file format is difficult to open or convert natively, standard online converters often fail to process it. If our analysis detects a supported underlying plain-text or embedded format, viewing or extracting your time series data may still be achievable.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DMY file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The DMY Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DMY converter.
