Convert DMR to another file type
To convert DMR projects to another format, you need BrainVoyager or other Data software.
Convert a file to DMR
To convert other file formats to the "Neuroimaging Project File" file type, you need software like BrainVoyager or a similar tool.
About DMR files
A .DMR file is a BrainVoyager Diffusion Weighted Project File. It is used by BrainVoyager, an advanced neuroimaging software, to organize and manage Diffusion MRI (dMRI) brain imaging datasets.
Users often face major challenges with .DMR files because they are proprietary. The most significant limitation of a .DMR file is that it does not actually contain the 3D brain scans. Instead, it is simply a structured text file that stores project metadata, hardware settings, and file paths linking to the actual heavy image files, such as DWI (Diffusion-Weighted Images) or DCM (DICOM) files. Opening it to view a 3D model requires an expensive, specialized medical software license. If you share just the .DMR file without the linked image data, the file is entirely useless for clinical analysis.
Because the .DMR file is just a text document containing header entries and gradient tables, standard online image converters fail when trying to process it. They incorrectly assume it is a visual image format. The best target formats for conversion are standard TXT or CSV files, which allow you to easily read the raw text metadata and extract the gradient direction tables.
This file format is difficult to open without the original medical software. We expose the internal text content so you can safely read the neuroimaging metadata directly in your browser.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DMR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert DMR file to MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, WMA, M4A, AIFF, OPUS, ALAC, APE or WV, you can use BrainVoyager or similar software from the "Diffusion MRI Project Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MIDI, AAC, TTA, AU, WV, DTS, MID, FLAC, RA, MP3, PCM or WAV files to DMR, try BrainVoyager or another comparable tool in the "Diffusion MRI Project Data" category.
The DMR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DMR converter.
