Extract text from MyPublisher book projects (DIME)
To convert DIME book projects to another format, you need MyPublisher BookMaker or other Page Layout software.
To convert other file formats to the "Photo Book Archive" file type, you need software like MyPublisher BookMaker or a similar tool.
A .dime file is primarily a proprietary project file created by the now-discontinued MyPublisher BookMaker software. These files were used to design digital photo books before the company was acquired by Shutterfly. Internally, the file is simply a ZIP archive that acts as a container for the project's assets.
Because the MyPublisher software is no longer supported and cannot connect to servers for printing, users often find themselves locked out of their own memories. The most practical "conversion" is not to use a standard converter, but to utilize the file's internal structure. By renaming the extension from .dime to zip, users can open the archive to access the raw JPG images and XML layout data stored inside. For long-term preservation, these extracted images should be converted to standard formats like PDF or PDF/A.
A secondary, less common use of the extension is for Direct Internet Message Encapsulation files, an obsolete Microsoft specification for sending binary data with SOAP messages.
