About DCTMP files

A .dctmp file is a temporary, incomplete data container created by DC++ and other Direct Connect peer-to-peer sharing clients. When a user downloads a file over the network, the client stores the incoming data chunks in a .dctmp file until the transfer completely finishes.

The main disadvantage of this format is its incomplete nature. Standard software cannot open it, and standard online converters fail to process it because critical file headers, metadata, and data blocks are missing. It locks up disk space without providing usable content. If the P2P connection drops permanently, the file becomes a useless fragment on your hard drive.

Because this is an unfinished file, direct conversion to standard targets like MP4, ZIP, or MP3 usually fails through traditional means. The best solution is to resume the download in your client. If the file is a nearly complete video or audio track, you can try manually renaming the extension to the intended format or opening it directly in VLC media player, which excels at playing broken media.

Convert.Guru analyzes your DCTMP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ANTIFRAG, CRF and INK files.
