About DATA_0 files
The .data_0 file is primarily used as an Allplan file transfer data container. Under the hood, it is typically formatted as a standard SQLite database file. Nemetschek Allplan uses these files to package and transfer complex building information modeling (BIM) and project data. The main disadvantage of the .data_0 format is its obscure, non-standard naming convention. Your operating system will not recognize it natively, and double-clicking the file will usually result in an error. It temporarily locks your project data behind a specific CAD ecosystem, making it difficult to share raw data with stakeholders who lack an expensive Allplan license. Standard online converters fail to process it because they blindly look at the unknown extension rather than analyzing the actual file signature. If you need to extract the data, your best conversion targets are standard database or spreadsheet formats. You can convert the internal tables to CSV for viewing in Microsoft Excel or dump the schema to an SQL text file. Keep in mind that exporting to flat CSV files will lose the relational links between different architectural elements. Because this uses a proprietary extension wrapper, opening it normally is challenging. Often, only the original Allplan software can properly read and visually render the 3D CAD data. However, standard online converters fail to process it. Because our engine detects the underlying SQLite architecture, viewing or extracting the raw database tables may still be possible without the original software.
