About D2D files
The .d2d extension creates a unique challenge because it is shared by two completely different industries: high-precision CAD software and Italian property management tools.
Most commonly, a .d2d file is a 2D/3D CAD drawing created by DynaCAD (often used in medical imaging by Philips) or associated with Allplan and Allura siding design software. These files contain complex vector geometry, layers, and 3D rendering data. They are strictly proprietary; you cannot simply open them in standard viewers like AutoCAD or web browsers. To view or edit these, you must have the original creating software installed to export them to a universal format like DXF, DWG, or PDF for sharing.
Alternatively, if you are working with property administration, your .d2d file is likely a Danea Domustudio archive. These are used to back up condominium management data. The key issue here is accessibility - users often need to extract the raw data without having the full Domustudio suite installed. Fortunately, these files are internally formatted as 7-Zip archives. This means you can often bypass the proprietary software entirely by renaming the extension to 7z and extracting the XML or database contents using a free tool like 7-Zip.

The D2D Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our D2D converter.
