About D1 files

The .D1 file format is most commonly an Absolute Database data file used by software developers, though it also serves as a CITIFILE network analyzer data file, an EEG data file for Brain Products, or a Bentley Systems ProjectWise archive. Users typically need specific software like ComponentAce Absolute Database, dBase, or BrainVision Analyzer to open and process these files. A major disadvantage of the .D1 format is its proprietary and highly fragmented nature. Because multiple unrelated applications use the same extension, users frequently face format errors. Standard applications and web browsers cannot natively read these files, and extracting records from legacy databases often requires expensive, niche software licenses. When possible, users should convert .D1 databases to standard formats like CSV, SQL, or XML to ensure long-term data accessibility. Be aware that converting to flat CSV files may result in the loss of relational table structures. The .D1 format is notoriously difficult to open or convert online because it is a closed, proprietary format heavily dependent on its original application environment. Standard online converters fail because they lack the specific database engines or medical parsing algorithms required to read the binary structures. Our analyzer can inspect the file's raw content. For example, if the .D1 is actually a ProjectWise document archive, our engine will detect the underlying ZIP structure, allowing you to extract the contents instantly.

Convert.Guru analyzes your D1 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted DBF, NDX and DTE files.

The D1 Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our D1 converter.
