The .CXD file extension is primarily associated with Machine Vision Job files created by Cognex In-Sight Explorer and VisionPro. These proprietary files store critical hardware configurations, spreadsheet data, and image analysis logic used in industrial automation. A secondary, yet common, use for the .CXD format is as a Microscopy Image Data file generated by Compix SimplePCI or Hamamatsu Photonics imaging software. Additionally, .CXD files are utilized as Chinese XML Data files for accounting reports within Chanjet or Yonyou software linked to the Golden Tax system. These formats are highly specialized and proprietary, which introduces severe vendor lock-in. Cognex files require expensive hardware licenses or heavy desktop software to open. Microscopy .CXD files use a complex Microsoft Compound container, while the Chinese accounting files are standard ZIP archives containing XML.
